But WarBaby’s passion for storytelling runs deeper than art, it’s rooted in experience. During his 9 years of service as a U.S. Army combat cameraman, he completed over 250 missions across two deployments in Iraq and Syria. While in the military working under the Signal Corps providing intelligence, he directly supported propaganda, reconnaissance, surveillance and cyber security operations in the middle east. Amid the chaos of war, he produced music under fire in tents, hiding in bunkers after running from rockets, turning adversity into creativity and trauma into therapy. It was in the military that he mastered the tools of his trade photography, videography, and storytelling, but he learned a hard truth: he didn’t own any of it.
The turning point came when the Army hired independent Contractors for a marketing campaign for the U.S. Army Airborne School. The civilian Contractors weren’t authorized to as passengers on military aircraft, so they needed someone both highly skilled and airborne-qualified. WarBaby was that needle in a haystack. Without hesitation, he drove two hours on short notice, and delivered elite footage under pressure accomplishing the mission. But when his boots hit the ground, he was forced to sign away his copyright and credit as the author to his work. To make matters worse, he received harsh criticism by the civilian contractors he supported who didn’t understand the danger, complexity, or expertise required to capture those images while in the sky. That moment was the lowest feeling he'd ever felt as a creator and That moment solidified his purpose: never again would he create or document without owning the work he risked his life to produce and he believes no other creator should have to either.
A strong advocate for Blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, WarBaby is paving the way for creators to embrace digital ownership and the financial soverignty it provides.
